For Thursday, write approximately 300 words about your Christmas memories in your writer’s notebook.
And remember to get a copy of Writing with Style by John Trimble.
For Tuesday, 12/11, read the essay, “Last Rites” and answer questions 1-5 in Organization and Ideas and #1-5 Technique and Style. Also write a 300-word response to essay #1 on page 287.
For Thursday, 12/13, read the essay, “High School” and answer questions 1-5 in Organization and Ideas and #1-5 Technique and Style. Also write a 300-word response to essay #1 on page 295.
For Friday, 12/14, write a 300-word response about your ideas to improve high school in general and Judge in particular.
Critique the following sites according to this criteria: ease of use, quality of images, fair use explanation, and appropriateness of images.
For Monday, finish all the writing activities on pp. 54-64 (except #2 on p. 64).
Complete pages 65-73 for Tuesday. Writer’s notebooks are due on the block day 12/11 or 12/12).
For Friday bring your revised alumni article to class with the photos. Also write a brief letter thanking them for taking the time to respond to your letter. Then ask them clarifying questions in the letter.
The deadline for the followup interview with your reader is now due Monday.
In your writer’s notebook, complete the activities on pages 52 & 53. You don’t need to do #4 under “Creating Occasions” on page 53. Do all the other activities though.
Go back to the person who recommended the book for you to read. Discuss the book with them. What was the best part of the book for you? for them?
Ask them what the book made them think about? What were the key ideas? Is it the kind of book you’d now recommend to someone else? Why or why not?
This is due Friday, Dec. 7.
