Read chapter 1 in Models for Writing for Thursday, 9/4.
Read pages 44-54 for Friday. Respond to the journal prompt on page 50.
Write a brief news story for the Judge website. The story is due on Tuesday, September 2. That means it needs to be emailed to judgemedia.post@blogger.com by Monday night.
Type the story into the body of the email, and type the headline into the subject line of your email.
First read your camera’s manual to learn the basics of your camera’s operation. Be prepared to explain how you can control the following features on your own camera: ISO, f-stop, shutter speed, depth of field, and white balance. If you’re not sure what these things mean, read this article about camera basics from the NC State Photographers Manual.
I did a search for used copies of Frames of Mind on cheapbooks.com. Here’s a link to some cheap ones.
For next Thursday, 8/30, complete one of the assignments in the Portfolio sections of A Whole New Mind. Be ready to ‘wow’ the class when you present.

The final draft of your interview story of your partner is due in class tomorrow, 8/22. Be sure to follow all the directions that were on the handout and what’s in your notes about caption writing. Also, everyone needs to have a free-reading book. If you forgot today, remember tomorrow.
For Thursday, 8/21, bring a book to class that you’re already reading, or bring a book that you’d like to read.
Also, bring the draft of the story you wrote about your partner.
